Smart home from JetHome fits perfectly into every apartment

We are a team of manufacturers of smart home devices JetHome. A few years ago, we entered the market to introduce our own controllers, which were originally designed to be the brains of your smart home. The line consisted of two devices:

  • JetHub D1 - Professional version, DIN rail panel mounting.
  • JetHub H1 - Desktop version. It has an ergonomic body that will perfectly fit into any designer renovation of your apartment.
  • JetHub D1+ - A more productive version of JetHub D1. Equipped with 2GB RAM and 32GB eMMC.

For more information about the characteristics of JetHome controllers, please follow the links: JetHub D1, JetHub H1.

Although the performance of the controllers was not much inferior to each other, the older version - JetHub D1, had a number of advantages, namely:

  • Built-in modbus (RS 433) interface.
  • 1-Wire.
  • Powered by Ethernet Passiv PoE.
  • Discrete inputs - 4 pcs.
  • Built-in relays 3 pcs.

The younger version - JetHub H1, in turn, also had several exclusive features:

  • The ability to increase the built-in memory by mounting an external microSD card.
  • Powered by microUSB from the supplied power supply, which is convenient when choosing the location of the controller anywhere in your home.

These solutions are perfect both for those whose apartments are at the design stage of the repair, since you can lay the appropriate power and low-voltage wiring, and for those who do not want to ditch the walls, intervene in their design repairs - these people will go great wireless technologies such as ZigBee, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth… All of these capabilities and protocols were already built into our controllers.

What devices can be connected to the JetHome controller?

We have smoothly approached the supported smart home devices. As we said above, under the hood of the controller there is a built-in ZigBee module.

ZigBee is one of the important components of the controller that distinguishes JetHub from any other single-board computer (like Raspberry pi). It is not for nothing that a powerful Texas Instruments CC2652P1 chip was chosen for its role, which can easily cope with 200 connected devices.

What devices can still be connected? For your convenience, in our online store we have compiled a selection of popular devices that close 90% of the needs of the average user.

Main categories of devices:

Full list of devices.

But that's not all! Since the controlThe JetHub controller in most cases uses the ZigBee2MQTT component, which is installed on top of the Home Assistant home automation system. Today the list of supported devices is more than 2000 and is growing every day by adding new ones. With full list of supported devices ZigBee2MQTT available here.

For wired devices, the JetHub D1 is equipped with 1-Wire and two modbus interfaces, while the JetHub H1 can easily be upgraded with a USB-modbus expansion module. Accordingly, we also get a complete list of devices operating on this protocol, and they are not inferior in number to wireless ones.

And finally, to close all the main protocols that are used in building a smart home, you can touch on Z-Wave, which can also be easily completed with a USB expansion module - Z-Wave.

Interaction with smart home

When it comes to smart home control, there is a limitless flight of fancy and there are absolutely no restrictions.

  • First of all, this is control using a smartphone with a proprietary application installed on the controller of the automation system, such as Home Assistant.
  • The Home app (Apple HomeKit) on Apple devices. Siri voice assistant on all iDevices and macOS, as well as Apple TV and HomePod.
  • Russian-speaking assistants such as:
    • Yandex Alice with her smart home Yandex.
    • Mail Marusya.

The list is not limited to this, and if tomorrow the ability to integrate third-party devices is added to Sber Salut, controllers running Home Assistant will be one of the first to receive all these features, since this system is one of the fastest growing Open Source systems.

Automations and scripts

Let's talk a little about automations and preset scripts. As you may have noticed, anything is possible when designing home automation. The main thing is to come up with scenarios (a sequence of automated predefined actions). That is, to think in detail what will happen if some kind of sensor works or the door opens.

Here are some examples:

  • The leakage sensor worked, the electric taps were blocked, the system notified the user that a collapse could occur, but all the taps were successfully closed and there is no reason to worry - everything is logical and simple, and most importantly, this will help save the user's budget.
  • When leaving the house, the system will analyze the presence of people in the house, turn off the lights, switch household appliances to standby mode, set the heating to a minimum, and order the vacuum cleaner to clean up.

You can create an infinite number of such automations. You can build them both in the system itself and use third-party ones.

Supported Software

We've moved on to the JetHome JetHub controller software. We have repeatedly mentioned Home Assistant and this is not just. Home Assistant is one of the most popular and fastest growing Open Source home automation systems. But this does not mean that something else cannot be installed on the controller. The main operating system of the controller is Armbian, which means that almost any package supported by Linux Ubuntu can be installed on the controller.

How to organize uninterruptible power supply of the JetHome JetHub D1(D1+) controller?

While developing the controller, there was a need for a reliable PoE Ethernet switch that we could recommend to you. Basic requirements: reliability, Passiv PoE out, optional - mounting on a DIN rail. Having studied the market, we did not find a worthy device and it was decided to develop our own. So another device of our production was born - Ethernet switch on a DIN rail with passive POE out. 10/100 Mbps, 5 ports - JetHome ES1.

More details about the JetHome ES1-AC switch and how to use it, you can read here.

Benefits JetHome ES1:

  • Possibility of power supply both from 220V network and using Ethernet 1 PoE IN.
  • Backup power from an external 12V battery.
  • Ethernet Passiv PoE OUT - 4 x 30 ports
  • Din rail mounting

It later turned out to be the only device of its kind on the market that combines all of the above requirements.

The bonus was not only a reliable power supply with the possibility of backup power, but also an Ethernet switch all rolled into one. Plus, I got the closest possible design to the controller, with the possibility of mounting on a DIN rail - they look decent in a pair.

JetHome WS7

This is not the end of our range of devices, for example, we recently released JetHome WS7 is a 3-channel, battery-powered, digital input module using the Zigbee protocol. The device was designed to connect binary sensors or "stupid" switches, making them a little smarter.
